Available in both mixed (BH 13453) and upper (BH 13454) voices arrangements, this carol (written for the Leeds Philharmonic Chorus) sets a text written by the composer which tells the Christmas story from the perspective of the visiting shepherds, with a Latin refrain, Natus est nobis hodie Salvator' (A Saviour is born today'). The up-tempo music is suitably joyous with a syncopated melody which develops from verse to verse from unison, through upper voices, a slower lusciously harmonised version, and a final descant for sopranos. An exciting new piece in the Christmas repertoire, this would make a thrilling addition to any choir's seasonal repertoire.

Dans cette chanson de Noël, qui existe également dans une version pour chur mixte (BH 13453) et pour voix hautes (BH 13454) et a été composée pour le Leeds Philharmonic Chorus, le compositeur a mis en musique un seul texte, qui raconte l'histoire de Noël du point de vue des bergers. Les strophes en anglais alternent avec le refrain en latin « Natus est nobis hodie Salvator » (« Le Sauveur est né aujourd'hui »). Le tempo rapide sonne joyeusement, et la mélodie syncopée se développe de strophe en strophe par-dessus les voix hautes, dans une version plus lente et exubérante jusqu'au chant final de la soprano. Une nouvelle pièce excitante pour le répertoire de Noël !
