Das Liebesmahl - Verwandlungsmusik from the Opera Parsifal Richard Wagner / Arr. Carlo Balmelli
Parsifal' is Wagners's last completed opera. It is based on Parzival' by Wolfram von Eschenbach, a 13th-century epic poem of the Arthurian knight Parzival (Percival) and his quest for the Holy Grail.
The Verwandlungsmusik'(transformation music) at the end of the first act, hallmarks the moment of changing the scenes: in the first act of Parsifal' the audience witnesses and experiences the change from the restricted glades of the woods to the even more restricted delimitation of the castle of the holy grail. This music is followed by the Grail Chorus' which in this transcription is orchestrated in the trombones.
