De passie en tegelijk melancholie van een liefde tussen twee mensen werd zelden zo mooi in een Nederlandstalig lied verwoord als in de 'Pastorale' en ingeleefd vertolkt door Ramses Shaffy en Liesbeth List. Gerhart Drijvers arrangeerde een niet te vermijdern toevoeging aan het repertoire voor blaasorkesten.
