Coronation March - Krönungsmarsch Piotr Ilich Tchaikowsky (Pyotr Peter Ilyich Iljitsch Tschaikovsky) / Arr. John Boyd
The march was composed for the coronation of Emperor Alexander III and Empress Maria Feodorovna (Princess Dagmar of Denmark) in 1883. As its title implies, this is a stately coronation march that will work well as a concert selection or as a processional or recessional for ceremonial occasions. With solid ensemble colors and triplet fanfare figures in the brass abounding, Tchaikovsky's always-charming harmonies are tastefully enhanced in this transcription.
