Nicolai von Wilm (1834-1911) was second conductor at the Municipal Theatre in Riga, later a music teacher in St. Petersburg. From 1875 he lived in Wiesbaden, where he died. His duo was published by Carl Giessel junior music publisher in Bayreuth in 1898 (later Zimmermann). It is a romantic salon piece in a wonderful musical instrument combination.
