A lot of composers, such as Brahms, Rachmaninov, Lutoslavski and many others used the Caprice nr.24 for violin solo by Paganini, to write a series of variations. This time that favourite theme has been used to write a series of variations for band. This work, commissioned by SAMO Nederland lasts about 9 minutes.The theme is followed by eight variations and a coda. Two quick variations alternate twice with a slower variation, whereas the final is written in a waltz tempo leading to a magestic coda as conlusion. All variations are played without interruption.

Le Caprice N24 pour violon solo de Paganini est un thème favori auprès de nombreux compositeurs. Brahms, Rachmaninov, Lutoslavski et bien d'autres compositeurs l'ont utilisé comme base d'une série de variations. Ces variations-ci ont été composées sur commande de SAMO Nederland et durent environ 9 minutes.Le thème est suivi de huit variations et d'une coda. A deux reprises deux variations rapides alternent avec une variation lente, tandis que le final est écrit en forme de valse. Une coda majestueuse termine l'oeuvre. Les variations s'enchainent sans interruption.

De Caprice No. 24 voor vioolsolo van Paganini, is een gewild thema voor componisten. Brahms, Rachmaninov, Lutoslavski en nog vele anderen gebruikten het voor het maken van variaties. Deze variaties zijn gecomponeerd voor harmonie, fanfare en brassband. Het werk was een opdracht van SAMO Nederland. De tijdsduur is ongeveer 9 minuten.Na het thema volgen er in totaal acht variaties en een coda. Tweemaal worden twee snelle variaties afgewisseld door een langzame variatie. De finale is in walstempo en het werk wordt afgesloten met een breed opgezet coda. De variaties gaan zonder onderbreking in elkaar over.
