The edition is the first part of the commissioned work Our Lady's Minstrel. While Prelude paraphrases the famous chorale Salve Regina in a slow waltz, the gipsy-like cheerful waltz of Dance forms a stark contrast to it. The whole work is completed by Three Poems for soprano and organ (ED 22299).

Initialement composée pour clarinette et orgue, l'uvre est maintenant aussi disponible dans une version pour violon et piano. Prelude and Dance est la première partie de l'uvre commandée Our Lady's Ministrel. Tandis que Prelude paraphrase le célèbre choral Salve Regina dans une valse lente, Dance contraste avec elle par une valse joyeuse dans le style tsigane. L'uvre est complétée par Three Poems pour soprano et orgue.
