El Condor Pasa Michael Geisler
Genre: Folk Song from Peru
Solo for 2 Flutes and Wind Orchestra (this solo is also very suitable for young flutists).
El Condor Pasa is an instrumental piece composed by the Peruvian composer Daniel Alomía Robles (1871-1942) in 1913 for his operetta of the same name, based on an older folk song from Peru. The melody has various song lyrics from Peru, but it is most often performed instrumentally. An English version by Simon & Garfunkel from 1970 made it internationally famous. The original piece traces back to a Peruvian folk tune from the 18th century.
