In the Berlin City Palace in 1701 a room was constructed with walls decorated with amber, at the command of the first Prussian King, Friedrich I. In 1716 Friedrich gave the room to the Russian Tsar, Peter the Great, who displayed it in the Catharina Palace in St Petersburg. During the Second World War it was looted by the Germans and brought to Konigsberg. Since then the Amber Room has vanished from the face of the earth, and there are many speculations and theories over what may have happened to it

À la commande du premier roi Prusse Frédéric I une chambre avec une décoration murale en ambre était construite dès 1701 dans le Berliner Stadtschloss. En 1716 Frédéric I donnait cette décoration au tsar Russe Pierre le Grand, qui l'exposait dans le palais Ste Catherine à St Petersburg. Pendant la Deuxième Guerre Mondiale les allemands s'en sont emparés et l'ont emmenée à Königsberg. Depuis, la Chambre d'Ambre semble avoir disparue de la terre et il y a beaucoup de spéculations sur son sort

In opdracht van de eerste Pruisische koning Friedrich I werd vanaf 1701 in het Berliner Stadtschloss een kamer met een wanddecoratie van amber gebouwd. In 1716 werd deze wanddecoratie door Friedrich I aan de Russische Tsaar Peter de Grote geschonken die haar in het Catharinapaleis in St. Petersburg tentoonstelde. In de Tweede Wereldoorlog werd ze door de Duitsers geroofd en naar Königsberg gebracht. Sindsdien lijkt de Amber Room van de aardbodem verdwenen te zijn en zijn er vele speculaties en vermoedens over wat er mee gebeurd zou zijn
