The Nanga Parbat, literally Naked Mountain, and also known as Killer Mountain is one of the largest and most dangerous mountains in the West Himalayas. At a height of 8125m it is the ninth highest mountain in the world. It was climbed for the first time in 1953. The composer describes the picturesque but highly dangerous acent of this 'King of the Mountains' A very rewarding work for the middle level band.

Le Nanga Parbat, ou 'Diamir' (Roi des Montagnes) est l'une des montagnes les plus hautes et dangereuses dans l'ouest du Himalaya. Avec ses 8125 m , c'est la neuvième montagne sur terre. Elle a été gravie por la première fois en 1953. Le compositeur dépeint d'une façon très évocative la montée extrèmement dangereuse de ce 'Roi des montagnes'. De Nanga Parbat, maar ook 'Diamir' (Koning van de Bergen) is een van de grootste en gevaarlijkste bergen in West Himalaya. Met zijn 8125m behoort hij bij de negen hoogste bergen van de aarde. In 1953 werd hij voor het eerst beklommen. De componist beschrijft op zeer beeldende wijze de uiterst gevaarlijke beklimming van deze 'koning van de bergen'. Een zeer dankbaar werk voor de orkesten uit de midden afdelingen.
