Once Upon a Castle (2003; revised 2015) for organ and orchestra is Michael Daugherty's nostalgic trip down memory lane based on his visits to the Hearst Castle, the vision and private residence of American media mogul William Randolph Hearst (1863-1951) on the barren mountains of San Simeon in California. The solo organ part is edited by Grammy Award winning organist Paul Jacobs who also gave the world premiere.

Once Upon a Castle pour orgue et orchestre (composé en 2003 et révisé en 2015) est le voyage nostalgique de Michael Daugherty dans le passé. La pièce se base sur ses visites au château de Hearst, la résidence privée du grand ponte des médias américains William Randolph Hearst (1863-1951), dans les Barren Mountains de San Simeon en Californie. La voix solo a été arrangée par l'organiste et lauréat d'un Grammy Award Paul Jacobs, qui a également joué la partie d'orgue lors de la première.
