Awakening - Music for Piano Matti Paatelma

Awakening Music for Piano is based on the idea of combining classical and rhythmic music in an easily approachable way. The compositions in the collection are inspired by nature and varying emotional states. Paatelma's compositional style can be described as cinematic catchy melodies, beautiful harmonies and a strong atmosphere are at the center. This creates a good foundation for exploring and practicing the sonority and phrasing. Hidden in the compositions there are also étude-like features: left-handed broken chords, waltz accompaniment, right hand crossings over the left, melodies in octaves and melodies played by the left hand. The book includes also more challenging rhythmic structures and patterns, as well as a composition based on fifths. The last song, Farewell, introduces a section for the guitar. The guitar can be replaced with any instrument of your choice, playing the part one octave lower. Further, Going Home offers a possibility to participate with e.g., percussion.
