Las Carboneras del Nalón Maria José Belenguer Dolz
2nd prize in the "I International Composition Competition for Women "Teresa Prieto". This work is a tribute to the first women who worked in the Nalón mines, known as carboneras or female coal workers. They worked outside the mine, undertaking all kinds of tasks such as cleaning wagons and tools, or carrying baskets of coal and so on. In addition to being pioneers as women workers, and also in the mining sector, many of them supported their families in this way when they were widowed after the war.
