Concerto for Band Lukas Foss

Commissioned by a consortium of twenty secondary schools and colleges, Concerto for Band is Lukas Foss' first work written originally and specifically for band. It is in a modified neo-classical style, full of good humor and brightly colored scoring. In four movements (1. Fanfare; 2. Elegy; 3. Fanfare, based on the material of 1; 4. March), Concerto for Band will be a powerful workout for a grade four/five band, and does not require a particularly large ensemble. It is highly recommended for ensembles looking for challenging (but not too difficult) contemporary repertoire.
