This work for solo trumpet and wind orchestra features the soloist in a manner reminiscent of that associated with the legendary "Doc" Severinsen to whom the piece is dedicated. It quickly becomes apparent that the composer's love for the trumpet shapes every phrase and gesture of this wonderfully idiomatic work. This is a major work for trumpet, combining heroic bravura with stunning lyricism.
