The pieceWe have included this famous piece, transcribed by Didier Ortolan for clarinet and band, as a tribute to Hengel Gualdi, who died in 2005. Born in 1924, in Correggio (Reggio Emilia), he was one of Italy's most important jazz musicians. He was held in high esteem in America, where he worked with some of the greatest musicians (Count Basie, Gerry Mulligan etc.) and played with Louis Armstrong and Lionel Hampton. In Italy he worked with Pupi Avati on his soundtracks.
Mit diesem bekannten von Didier Ortolan übertragenen Stück für Klarinette und Blasorchester möchten wir Hengel Gualdi gedenken, der 2005 verstorben ist. 1924 in Correggio (Reggio Emilia) geboren, war er einer der wichtigsten Jazzmusiker in Italien. Er war in Amerika sehr geschätzt und hat mit den größten Musikern wie Count Basie, Gerry Mulligan gearbeitet, aber auch mit Louis Armstrong und Lionel Hampton. In Italien widmete er sich dem Regisseur Pupi Avati, mit der Musik zu seinen Filmen.
