Measure 23: Hrothgar's men having a merry time in Heorot Hall. There is drink, food, the telling of tales, and much comradery.

Measure 39 Hrothgar's procession into Heorot

Measure 56: The men continue in their merriment.

Measure 63: Grendel is lurking outside of Heorot Hall

Measure 69: Grendel attacks.

Measure 84: Grendel has killed many of Hrothgar's men. But Hrothgar is protected by God while he is on his throne.

Measure 97, Beowulf leaves Geatland by boat and comes across the sea to Denmark to offer assistance to King Hrothgar.

Measure 137: Beowulf offers to battle Grendel. He says he will defeat Grendel with his bare hands.

Measure 156: Hrothgar accepts Beowulf's offer and throws him a feast of celebration.

Measure 164: Unfearth mocks Beowulf's offer and doubts his ability to defeat Grendel. Beowulf replies with boasts of previous victories.

Measure 214: Grendel attacks Heorot Hall again. He and Beowulf engage in hand to hand combat.

Measure 183: Beowulf rips Grendel's arm off and he goes back to the swamp and bleeds to death.

Measure 198: Hrothgar holds another feast for Beowulf's triumph over Grendel.

Measure 206: Grendel's mother, angry at the death of her son, goes to Heorot Hall the seek revenge.

she murders Aeschere, one of Hrothgar's top advisors, and then runs away back to the swamp.

Measure 234: Beowulf goes to the swamp and defeats Grendel's mother. He finds Grendel's body, decapitates it, and brings the head to Heorot Hall as a trophy.

Measure 244: Beowulf says farewell to King Hrothgar and returns to Geatland where he becomes king after King Hygelac and his son both die in a battle with the Shylfings. He rules for 50 years, bringing much prosperity to the land.

Measure 252: A thief has disturbed a sleeping dragon who is guarding a treasure.

Measure 266: The dragon attacks the castle and does battle with Beowulf. Although Beowulf kills the dragon, he gets bit on the neck by the dragon and its venom soon kills him.

Measure 302: Beowulf's funeral

Measures 318: The lighting of the funeral pyre

Measure 321: Beowulf's ashes are buried along with the treasure taken from the dragon.
