The title of Julian Anderson's first piece for guitar refers to a painting by Joan Miró in which the dominant element is a vivid blue. In Miró's work details such as guitar strings, the orange of a Catalan barretina and a smoking pipe are present and theses are reflected in the composers work. This piece is part of a triptych of works by Anderson relating to the colour blue, beginning with his violin concerto, In lieblicher Bläue, and ending with Van Gogh Blue.

Le titre de la première uvre pour guitare de Julian Anderson se rapporte à un tableau de Joan Miró dans lequel la couleur dominante est un bleu rayonnant. Des fragments d'objet sont visibles : des cordes de guitare, l'orange d'une barretina catalane, une pipe fumante. C'est l'extraordinaire force de ce tableau qui amena Anderson à composer "Catalan Peasant" ("Paysan catalan") pour guitare. La pièce est la deuxième d'une série de trois uvres dans lesquels Anderson s'occupe de la couleur bleue, de son concerto pour violon "In lieblicher Blaue" ("dans un bleu tendre") à "Van Gogh Blue".
