The Austrian military bandmaster Josef Franz Wagner (1856-1908) used to be called the 'Austrian March King'. He wrote some 400 compositions, 250 of which have been published. Among his well-known marches we mention 'Tiroler Holzhacker Buab'n', 'Erzherzog Johann Jodler', 'Wiener Bürger', '47er Regimentsmarsch' and, of course, 'Unter dem Doppeladler' (Under the Double Eagle) opus 19. The title of this immortal march refers to the double eagle in the coat of arms of the Austro-Hungarian double monarchy. The march became so popular that it was recorded thrice by the Sousa-band before J.F.Wagner died at the age of 52. It became the official regimental march of the 1st Austrian Artillery Regiment Number 2.

Le chef d'orchestre militaire Josef Franz Wagner (1856-1908) est connu comme 'le Roi autrichien de la marche'. Il a composé quelque 400 oeuvres dont environ 250 ont été publiées. Parmi ses marches les plus connues citons 'Tiroler Holzhacker Buab'n', 'Erzherzog Johann Jodler', 'Wiener Bürger', '47er Regimentsmarsch' et, bien sûr, 'Unter dem Doppeladler' (Sous l'Aigle double) opus 19. Le titre de cette marche immortelle se rapporte à l'emblème de la double monarchie Austro-Hongoise. La marche devint tellement populaire qu'elle fut enregistrée trois fois par l'Orchestre Sousa avant le décès de Wagner survenu à l'âge de 52 ans. Elle fut acceptée comme marche officielle du 1er Régiment d'Artillerie Autrichien.

De Oostenrijkse militaire kapelmeester Josef Franz Wagner (1856-1908) werkte zich op tot de Oostenrijkse marsenkoning. Hij schreef zowat 400 composities waarvan er ongeveer 250 werden gepubliceerd. Onder zijn bekendste marsen vernoemen we 'Tiroler Holzhacker Buab'n', 'Erzherzog Johann Jodler', 'Wiener Bürger', '47er Regimentsmarsch' en natuurlijk 'Unter dem Doppeladler' opus 19. De titel van deze onsterfelijke mars verwijst naar de dubbele adelaar in het wapenschild van de Oostenrijks-Hongaarse dubbelmonarchie. De mars werd zo populair dat ze reeds driemaal door de Sousaband op de plaat werd gezet nog voor Wagner op 52-jarige leeftijd overleed. Ze werd de officiële regimentsmars van het 1ste Oostenrijkse Artillerieregiment nr.2.
