Medi Terraneum - concierto para trompa y banda Jose Rafael Pascual-Vilaplana

This score is the result of a commission I received in 2012 from my trumpet player friend Paco Rodríguez Azorín, to write a composition for solo horn and orchestra. The work aims to evoke, not to narrate, the Mediterranean culture, mixing three elements that define it: its warm light that invites us to party, its history, cradle of diverse cultures and its nostalgia for all of us who were born there. With the name that the Latins gave to this sea in the middle of lands, MEDI TERRANEUM, this work wants to pay homage to who we are, not because we are better than any other, but to feel proud of where we have opened our eyes and thus contribute with our essence to the journey of those who have done it in other places.

The original for Solo Horn and Chamber Orchestra was premiered by Paco Rodríguez Azorín and the CAMERA MUSICAE Orchestra of Tarragona and is included in the CD "Mediterraneo Horn". In 2014 the version for horn and piano was completed, commissioned by the Conservatorio Profesional de Música "Tenor Cortis" of Dénia and the teacher Gemma Guillem. This version for solo horn and band was commissioned by my nephew Jordi Pascual Bosch, to be premiered with our band, the Unión Musical de Muro.
