Written in memory of Sir Winston Churchill, this single-Movement work is based on four familiar English songs: "o God, our help in ages past", "The Maid of Amsterdam", "Flow gently, sweet Afton", and "Rule Britannia". The full ensemble scoring, abundance of contrapuntal interest, and contrasts of tempo and tonality make this an ideal program or contest number.
