Festival Polka Jerker Johansson

Serie / Series: Concert Band Entertainment
The Festival Polka was first time performed by the Royal Swedish Army Band 1987. Jerker Johansson served as percussionist during his military service and was asked to be soloist with the band for the final concert. Not just did he accept the honour to be soloist, but also composed the Festival Polka for the occasion. The Festival Polka is also known in a version for xylophone and brass band. This version was premiered as one of the pieces of free choice at the World Brass Band Championship 1988, Australia, by Göteborg Brass Band winning the first prize. The success of the piece was spread and is today performed in many countries worldwide.
