Commissioned by Merton College, Oxford, for the Merton Choirbook, a collection of choral music written in celebration of the College's 750th anniversary in 2014. A setting of verses from Ezekiel 36, forming in the Anglican lectionary a morning canticle for the days between Ascension and Pentecost. The choral writing is predominantly homophonic, with divisi in up to eight parts. The opening staccato chordal texture, with silences, gradually builds to an expressive legato. Subsequent dynamic contrasts occur, leading to two climaxes, after which the opening material returns, with resolution through a sustained pianissimo close.

Cette pièce fut composée en 2014 pour le Merton Choirbook, un recueil de musique chorale. Elle fut commandée par le Merton College d´Oxford à l´occasion de ses 750 ans d´existence. Il s´agit de la mise en musique de quelques versets d´Ézéchiel 36, prévus pour les morning prayers (comparable aux Laudes) des jours entre l´Ascension et Pentecôte. La pièce est majoritairement homophonique avec jusqu´à huit voix différentes. L´ouverture avec des accords staccato et des silences conduit progressivement à un legato expressif. Les contrastes dynamiques qui suivent mènent à deux climax, avant que le matériau musical du début ne revienne et que la pièce ne se termine avec la dissolution de la tension dans un pianissimo entretenu.
