In 1979 Badings was commissioned to compose a work in several parts for symphonic band which could also be performed by amateur players. This commission resulted in 'Golden Age', a composition in which he used a lot of material borrowed from the Dutch 17th century folklore. It is a four-part suite. The first part evokes the pompous dignity of The Hague, the 'distin-guished royal village' as it was so deliciously described by the poet Constan-tijn Huygens. The second part is a gaillarde with a double (repetition with ornaments). The third part is a canonic march based on a Frisian theme. The final part is a quick gigue (jig) containing a fugue in which all previous themes rerturn in a virtuoso way.

En 1979 Badings reçoit une commande pour une composition en plusieurs mouvements pour orchestre d'harmonie d'amateurs. Ainsi il compose 'Golden Age' (L'Age d'Or), une suite en quatre mouvements dans laquelle il utilise des thèmes empruntés au folklore néerlandais du 17ème siècle. Le premier mouvement 'Grande Pompe à La Haye' évoque le mode de vie somptueux de la ville où réside la cour, telle que l'auteur Constantijn Huygens la décrit merveilleusement. Le deuxième mouvement est une Gaillarde avec double (reprise avec ornements). Le troisième mouvement est une Marche en forme de canon sur un thème frison. Le dernier mouvement est une Gigue rapide où tous les thèmes précédents reviennent de façon virtuose sous forme d'une fugue.

In 1979 kreeg Badings de opdracht voor een meerdelige compositie voor blaasorkest, die speelbaar moest zijn voor amateurs. Het resultaat was zijn Golden age, waarin hij veel motivisch materiaal ontleende aan de Nederlandse folklore uit de 17e eeuw. Het geheel is een vierdelige suite. Het eerste deel, Haagse praal, roept de pompeuze deftigheid van het door Constantijn Huygens zo prachtig bezongen deftige hof'dorp' op. Het tweede deel is een gaillarde, met double. Het derde deel een canonische Mars, op een Fries thema. Het laatste deel, waarin in een fuga alle eerdere thema's virtuoos terugkeren, is een snelle gigue.
