The maritime rhapsody The Seafarer (1940) is based on some well known Irish and Scottish traditional music. As a resident on the Isle of Man, where he moved at very young age, Haydn Wood has grown up with the sea and the sea shanties. The work has a traditional form, a true rhapsody and has been performed hundreds of times throughout Europe, similar as Wood's work Manin Ween. The new full score and revised instrumentation of The Seafarer, have adapted the work to present day wind band settings.

La rapsodie maritime The Seafarer (1940) est basée sur quelques chants traditionnels irlandais et écossais. En tant que habitant de l'île de Man, où il a déménagé dès son plus jeune âge, Haydn Wood a grandi avec la mer et les chants de marin. L'uvre a une forme traditionnelle, une vraie rapsodie, et était performée des centaines de fois en Europe, tout comme son uvre Mannin Veen. Le nouveau score complet et l'instrumentation révisée de The Seafarer ont adapté l'uvre pour l'orchestration moderne.

De maritieme rapsodie The Seafarer (1940) is gebaseerd op enkele zeer bekende Ierse en Schotse traditionals. Als bewoner van het eiland Man, waarnaar hij op jeugdige leeftijd verhuisde, is Haydn Wood opgegroeid met de zee en zeemansliederen. Het werk is traditioneel van vorm, een echte rapsodie, en werd honderden malen uitgevoerd in Europa net als Woods werk Mannin Veen. De nieuwe fullscore en herziene instrumentatie van The Seafarer hebben het werk aangepast aan de heden ten dage gevraagde instrumentatie en bezetting.
