Rossini's opera Tancredi is certainly not one of the most frequently performed of his works, but the overture is, however, still often and gladly performed. The original is entitled "Sinfonia" and is also structured according to this classical Italian form. Franco Cesarini has succeeded in preserving the spirit of this original, unforgettable little composition in his arrangement for wind orchestra.
