Ein absolut authentisches und forderndes Arrangement dieses wohl bekanntesten Orchesterwerkes Gershwin´s.

'An American in Paris' was inspired by a trip to Europe in 1928. Gershwin called it a 'rhapsodic ballet'in the impressionistic style. The composer did not want to describe but rather to suggest and appeal to thelistener's fantasy. The blues expresses the spleen of an American who is rather solitary in the French capital.The motor horns evoke the hectic traffic on the Parisian boulevards. Gershwin composed this work in differenthotel rooms in Paris, London and Vienna.

Il désigne luimêmecette oeuvre comme un ballet rhapsodique' et de la musique à programme dans le style impressionniste.Gershwin n'a pas voulu d'écrire mais plutôt suggérer et faire appel à l'imagination de l'auditeur. 'An American in Paris' werd geïnspireerd door Gershwins Europese reis in 1928. Hij noemde het werk eenrapsodisch ballet en omschreef het als programmamuziek in impressionistische stijl. Gershwin wilde nietsbepaalds beschrijven, maar eerder suggereren en de fantasie van de luisteraar de vrije teugel geven. Deblues drukt het heimwee uit van de eenzame Amerikaan in de Lichtstad. De drukke Parijse boulevards wordengesuggereerd door de taxitoeters in diverse tonen.
