is bades on G.F. Händel's Concerti Grossi, op. 6 called the Twelve Grand Concertos, composed in the autumn of 1739. They were probably written as incidental music for his oratorios and operas.The beautiful Largo e cantabile from Concerto No. 4 was completed on October 8. Handel biographer Paul Lang calls it a Stabat Mater (a hymn to Mary's sorrow before the Cross).
