Trumpetino opens with a one-note «fanfare», which is being used as a main theme. Different time signatures and rhythmic patterns are supporting this theme.

The balance between the soloist and band are important. The soloist should be heard clearly throughout the piece. Some harmonies are dissonant, so it is an advantage if the musicians know their place and get used to the sound of these chords.

Balansen mellom solist og korps er viktig. Solisten skal høres tydelig gjennom hele stykket. Enkelte harmonier er dissonerende, så det er en fordel at musikantene kjenner sin plass og blir vant til disse klangene.
