In 1840 Felix Mendelssohn composed his Lobgesang' (Hymn of Praise'), Op. 52. It's a 13-movement Symphony-Cantata on Words of the Holy Bible for Soloists, Choir and Orchestra'. Decades after Mendelssohn's death, the editors of Mendelssohn's complete edition entered Lobgesang' as No. 2' in the sequence of this symphonies for editorial reasons. However, there is no indication that this represented the composer's intentions.
The fifth movement of the symphony' is Ich harrete des Herrn' based on Psalm 40. It is scored for two sopranos, choir and orchestra. Italian arranger Dietmar Rainer transcribed this movement for two sopranos, choir and symphonic band.
