This frenetic assortment of familiar chorale melodies by Martin Luther was composed to mark the celebrations of Luther's music (and the 800th anniversary of the choir of St Thomas in Leipzig) in 2012. Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott [A mighty fortress is our God] appears as a powerful ritornello theme, elaborated with tender lyricism just before the end. A chorale setting of Verleih uns Frieden gnädiglich [Lord, in thy mercy grant us peace] makes a calm middle section for this otherwise highly demanding organ piece. The 2012 setting for organ duet has been arranged as a virtuoso work for organ solo in 2015. An organ with three manuals is required.

Cette ronde furieuse tirée de mélodies de chorals de Martin Luther doit être jouée dans un tempo rapide et avec des contrastes de tempo exagérés. Au centre de la pièce figure le choral "Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott", présent en tant que forte tête de thème sous forme de ritournelle et transformé juste avant la fin en mélodie tendre et lyrique. La partie médiane, plus calme, est une variation de choral sur "Verleih uns Frieden gnädiglich". L'auditeur est cordialement invité à deviner toutes les autres citations de chorals luthériens. La version de 2012 pour deux instrumentistes a été transposée en 2015 en une pièce virtuosistique pour orgue solo. Un orgue à trois manuels est nécessaire.
