Emmerich Kálmán most beloved operetta Die Csárdásfürstin had its first performance at the Vienna Johann Strauss-Theater in November 1915. Only in the German speaking countries it was performed 50 times within the next five years. The waltz song 'Tanzen möcht ich' (a real Viennese waltz) provides a celebration of the love of Sylva and Edwin, the main characters of the operetta.
