The libretto by Stein and Jebach tells the story of the cabaret singer Sylva Varescu who has to leave for an American tour and it is arranged that there should be a betrothal with the man she loves, Prince Edwin von und zu Lippert-Weylersheim. 'Heia, in den Bergen' is Sylva's dazzling opening number, sung on the stage of her chic Budapest nightclub, mixes Magyar exoticism with Vienesse charm.
