This imaginative arrangement of the folk song "John Henry" brings to life in music the tale of the larger-than-life folk hero who out-dueled a steam-driven machine. Up to 12 percussionists can be featured in a soli role that creates the sound of the steam-driven machine. The excitement level of the work is increased by spoken vocals as John Henry works himself into a frenzy while out-dueling the mechanical contraption.
