This collection, based on the original score and published by Antonio Gardane in Venice in 1538, gives us insight into the "chanson" genre which was at its peak at the beginning of the 16th century. Inkeeping with the custom of that time to perform those pieces originally intended for singing on instruments, too, they were transcribed for the recorder. The registers allow the usual quartet instrumentation S-A-T-B, but alternate options are also possible.

Edité par Nikolaus Delius d'après les livres originaux publiés en 1538 à Venise, ce recueil donne une idée du genre des "Chansons" florissant au début du 16ème siècle. En accord avec les coutumes de l'époque d'exécuter avec un ensemble instrumental les morceaux à l'origine prévus pour être chantés, nous les présentons maintenant dans une transcription pour flûtes à bec. Les registres permettent d'utiliser l'instrumentation de quatuor "normale" S-A-T-B, mais aussi des instrumentations alternatives.
