African Drums is a composition following the African drum music tradition in as far as the typical African groove feeling and the 12/8 rhythm - unusual for Europeans - is concerned. It does not, however, claim to imitate original African music. Provided the players are familiar with African rhythms, this piece is not difficult. It is a must for the different parts to be played together in the same groove and pace in order to reflect the pushing pulse of the music. Djembe, Talking Drum and Caxixi are being used in the original but can be replaced by Congas, Bongos and Shaker.

African Drums est une composition inspirée par la musique africaine de par son balancement, son groove ainsi que par l'utilisation du 12/8, mesure peu pratiquée en Europe. Cette ?uvre n'a pas pour autant la prétention d'être une authentique musique traditionnelle africaine. La pièce n'est pas difficile, pourvu que les interprètes ont déjà un peu d'expérience avec les rythmes africains. Les différentes parties doivent se jouer ensemble, avec exactitude et groove pour mettre en valeur l'aspect motorique de la musique. Les instruments originaux djembé, talking drum et caxixi peuvent être remplacés par des congas, des bongos et le shaker.
