Funeral March of a Marionette was composed in 1872 as part of Charles Gonoud's Suite Burlesque for piano. This suite was intended as a parody of the music critic, Henry Chorley. When he had finished composing the piece, Gonoud decided to keep only the funeral march. This march has been recorded countless times, one of the first being with John Philip Sousa's famous band. The piece is most well known from its use as the theme music to the television program Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

Cet uvre était écrit en 1872 comme mouvement de la Suite Burlesque pour piano. Cette suite était destinée à parodier le personnage de Henry Chorley, un critique de musique.
