Caspar (Gaspard) Kummer (1795 - 1870) was a flutist and court kapellmeister of the chapel orchestra of the Duke of Saxony-Coburg-Gotha. His compositions were highly popular at the time, and so was his flute tutor and the duets, trios and quartets he composed for the flute - probably intended for instruction purposes - which give proof of his high instrumental and musical skills. This elegant and charming work begins with a playful allegro followed by a plain theme with variations before the Concertino is concluded by a virtuoso part.

Ses compositions étaient très appreciées de son vivant et sa Méthode de Flûte est devenue célèbre, de même que ses duos, trios et quatuors pour flûte, destinés à l'enseignement et prouvant le haut niveau des possibilités instrumentales et musicales. L'?uvre élégante et aimable commence par un allegro enjoué, suivi d'un sobre thème et variations avant qu'une partie virtuose ne termine le Concertino.
