Le répertoire traditionnel du fiddle est désormais disponible dans toute son étendue. Ces recueils volumineux permettent une expérience unique de la Ceilidh, la barn dance, l'atmosphère des clubs de jazz, la musique des cafés de Sarajevo ou la musique gitane. Si l'on connaît certains titres, d'autres sont tout à fait nouveaux, mais tous les morceaux partagent une authenticité indiscutable, un souci certain apporté à l'arrangement, et, par dessus tout, un immense potentiel récréatif. Chaque titre de cette série est disponible en deux versions : une version pour violon (avec de très légères voix complémentaires de violons et des accords de guitare ad lib.), ou une version complète avec des voix de violon, un accompagnement au piano et d'autres indications. Cette grande flexibilité permet de nombreuses instrumentations : en solo, en duo, en trio, jusqu'à de plus grands ensembles. Edward Huws Jones s'est consacré à la tradition du fiddle. Dans chaque volume, il explique l'arrière-plan du style de musique concerné et fait plusieurs propositions pour une exécution optimale. De magnifiques illustrations dans chaque volume de la série contribuent à faire vivre l'esprit de la musique. Cette édition est consacrée à la musique gitane. On y accole régulièrement les mêmes adjectifs : vivant, spontané, virtuose, et enflammé. Cette musique accompagne encore de nos jours les gitans sur les routes d'Europe, de la Russie aux Balkans et de l'Andalousie à la Mer Noire. Pour beaucoup cependant, la véritable musique gitane trouve ses racines en Hongrie et en Roumanie.
