This composition was commissioned by the Musique Municipale d'Ingwiller on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the orchestra. The commune of Ingwiller in the French region of Alsace served as the source of inspiration for the work. The title refers to the numerous buildings there, built of red sandstone, and to the "Schlembe," a train that connected Ingwiller to Bouxwiller for 60 years. The work consists of four movements, all referring to Ingwiller and its history. This cheerful and positive work features beautiful melodic themes in all instrumental groups, offers slow passages in which to work wonderfully on intonation and phrasing, and has lovely passages for percussion.
