Three Revolutionary Marches was written by Czech composer Bedrich Smetana in 1848, a time of political upheaval in the history of the European continent. Smetana wrote these works at age 24, originally scoring them as piano solos. Street fighting was actually taking place in Prague when these marches were written, and the music effectively portrays the unrest of the times.
