Written as either a fun or serious performance piece, this work incorporates several well-known and familiar classical melodies associated with the macabre and creepy. For a more serious program, 'Pieces Macabre' is offered by the arranger as an alternate title. Included themes are Johann Sebastian Bach's 'Toccata and Fugue in D minor,' Modest Moussorgsky's 'Night on Bald Mountain,' Charles Gounod's 'Funeral March of a Marionette,' and Edvard Grieg's 'In the Hall of the Mountain King.'
