The French composer Adam is famous for his operas such as, 'Le Roi d'Yvetot', 'La Poupée de Nuremberg' and 'Si j'étais Roi'. The overtures of most of these operas are still often performed by wind bands. Among his ballet music 'Giselle' was a huge succes. The peasant girl Giselle is in love with a young man, but ignores he is a Duke, promised to a Princess. After many adventures she finally discovers the truth and is killed by the grief. This selection consists of the following scenes: Introduction; Love scene; General Dance; Pas de Deux; The Hunt; The Winegrowers; Waltz; Galop.

Parmi ses ballets, 'Giselle' a connu le plus de succès. La paysanne Giselle tombe amoureuse d'un garçon dont elle ignore qu'il est Duc, fiancé à une princesse. Après de nombreuses péripéties la vérité éclate enfin et Giselle meurt de chagrin. Adam werd bekend door zijn opera's: 'Le Roi d'Yvetot', 'La Poupée de Nuremberg' en 'Si j'étais Roi'. De ouvertures van deze opera's worden ook door blaasorkesten gespeeld. Van zijn balletten werd vooral 'Giselle' een groot succes. Het boerenmeisje Giselle wordt verliefd op een jongeman waarvan zij niet weet dat hij een hertog is, die op zijn beurt verloofd is met een prinses. Na allerlei verwikkelingen komt de waarheid aan het licht en sterft Giselle van verdriet.
