American composer Copland wrote his masterful ballet score to 'Rodeo' in 1942, and Hoe Down later became the finale to his orchestral suite 'Four Dance Episodes.' This piece is light, jazzy, humorous and full of zest, and Quincy Hilliard's transcription brings it within the reach of bands at this level.
This title is in the key of E-flat in 2/4 meter. There are some short meter changes to 3/4 and back again to 2/4. The trumpet has a short solo.
