This march was composed in the early Spring of 1990 after being inspired by the local skydivers practicing their hobby at Geiteryggen Airfield in Skien, Norway. Particularly bold
and spectacular I found those diving in free fall for about half a minute before unfolding their parachutes just before, so it seemed, hitting the ground.
In my view they are the real Skydivers, but the march is a homage to all who practice this thrilling activity and to their courage and skills.

[NO]Marsjen ble komponert på våren 1990 etter å ha blitt inspirert av lokale fallskjermhoppere som utøvde sin hobby på Geiteryggen Flyplass i Skien. Særlig dristige og spektakulære var de som stupte i fritt fall i et halvt minutt, for så å la fallskjermen folde seg ut, tilsynelatende, like før de nådde bakken.
I mine øyne er disse de virkelige himmelstuperne, men marsjen er en hyllest til alle dristige utøvere av denne spennende aktiviteten og til deres mot og dyktighet.
