Mozart schrieb 1782 in Wien das 'Rondo für Klavier und Orchester' als Alternativsatz zu seinem 'Klavierkonzert Nr. 5', das er 1773 im Alter von achtzehn Jahren komponierte. Tatsächlich entspricht dieses 'Rondo' nicht der allgemeinen 'Rondo-Form', sondern enthält eine Reihe von witzigen Variationen. Das etwa zehnminütige Konzertstück beginnt mit einem'Allegro grazioso' und wechselt später in ein'Adagio' und ein'Allegro', was kurz vor dem Finale wieder das Startempo erfordert.
Der italienische Arrangeur Gottfried Veit transkribierte dieses Rondo für Klavier mit Begleitung einer kleinen symphonischen Band. Die Instrumentierung - mit einigen als optional eingestuften Instrumenten - entspricht in vollem Umfang dem Original.

Mozart wrote the 'Rondo for Piano and Orchestra' in Vienna in 1782 as an alternative final movement to his 'Piano Concerto No. 5', which he composed in 1773 at the age of eighteen. In fact, this 'rondo' does not correspond to the general 'rondo form'; it rather contains a number of witty variations. This approximately ten-minute concert piece begins with an 'Allegro grazioso' and later changes to an 'Adagio' and an 'Allegro' which requires just shortly before the final again the starting pace. Italian arranger Gottfried Veit transcribed this rondo for piano with accompaniment of a small symphonic band. The instrumentation - with some instruments scored as optional - is in full respect to the original.
