Gioacchino Rossini ist in erster Linie für seine Opern bekannt, komponierte aber auch für andere Kräfte wie diese Einführung, das Thema und die Variationen für Klarinette und Orchester. Es wird allgemein angenommen, dass Rossini dieses Werk als Studentenprojekt am Konservatorium von Bologna komponierte, als er noch sehr jung war. Es basiert auf zwei von Rossinis bewegendsten dramatischen Arien und ist bis heute eines der beliebtesten virtuosen Werke für Klarinette. Der italienische Arrangeur Marco Tamanini transkribierte dieses Werk für Solo-Klarinette mit Begleitung eines symphonischen Blasorchesters.


Gioacchino Rossini is primarily known for his Opera's, but also composed for other forces like this Introduction, Theme, and Variations for Clarinet and Orchestra. It is generally believed that Rossini composed this work as a student project at the Bologna Conservatory of Music when he was very young. It's based on two of Rossini's most moving dramatic arias and remains one of the most popular virtuosic works for clarinet to this day. Italian arranger Marco Tamanini transcribed this work for Solo Clarinet with accompaniment of a Symphonic Band.
