Reid Gilje composer / arranger
Reid Gilje is Eikanger-Bjørsvik's permanent conductor. He is a versatile musician with a background as a cornet player from the Stavanger Brass Band, Krohnengen Brass Band, the Norwegian National Youth Corps and HMKongens Gardes Musikkorps, and as a piano horn player in the Norwegian Youth Brass Band and Eikanger-Bjørsvik.
Gilje is an active freelancer on the trumpet within the genres pop, rock and jazz. He has had several assignments in TV, theater and show productions. As a permanent member of the Bergen Big Band, he has also been involved in collaborative projects with Andy Sheppard, Ernie Watts, Joe Henderson, Martial Solal, Diana Krall, Sissel Kyrkjebø and others.
Reid Gilje has a conductor education from the Grieg Academy and has conducted several of the best brass bands in Norway and in England and several of the defense corps in Norway. In addition, he is very useful as an instructor at seminars and summer courses around the country.
