Jacaranda Mimosifolia

Jacaranda Mimosifolia Yukiko Nishimura

Jacaranda Mimosifolia is the botanical name of a flower that harkens Spring in Southern California. Just as Japanese Spring is covered with Sakura pink, SoCal is scenic with purple jacaranda trees no matter what part of town you visit. It is also splendid when streets are covered with purple petals. This piece regards a city covered with purple, fragile flowers, commissioned for the 23rd Kyo-En's school band project. What I consider when composing is that all instruments with harmony are flowing horizontally and every vertical voice is usefully meaningful. On top of that, I want to bring joy to the group's music-making, always wishing to create sounds that remain in people's hearts.

Non-harmonic tones are difficult to blend in the ensemble but look for the best soothing balance while listening carefully to each other.
