Ein Roman op.35 Band 1 für Piano Sergei Bortkiewicz
Ein Roman op 35, Volume 1 is a collection of eight characterful piano miniatures first published in Leipzig in 1928 by Kistner & Siegel. Each short scene unfolds with fluid dramaturgy as a chamber drama in the sense of a musical novella, from the tender encounter through romantic reveries (Erwachende Liebe) to the glamorous ball (Auf dem Ball) and the emotional highs and lows with Enttäuschung and Vorwürfen. The seventh movement Ein Brief is introspective and lyrical before the finale Höchstes Glück culminates in triumphant harmony.
This two-volume edition Volume 1 (containing the first eight pieces) offers both technically stretchable passages and expressive depth. A delightful addition to concert programs salon evenings or tasteful home music a small yet grand piano work in the post-romantic style of Sergei Eduardowitsch Bortkiewicz.
